The Dona Francisca Health Study

Overview

The Dona Francisca health study is an ongoing project examining the feasibility of implementing a health promotion program addressing physical activity, nutrition and stress management for Brazilians aged 50 and older. The program is culturally sensitive to the targeted population by partnering with local organizations to develop and deliver an evidence-based behavioral change curriculum that incorporates religious and family activities. Community Health Agents, who are already working in the community, are trained to deliver the program.

The Program

The program is structured to include three core elements: an individual meeting, educational workshops (click here to see the booklets), and follow-up motivational phone calls, over a period of 6 months.
